Teacher Training Workshops for Local Women in Afghanistan

In Baghlan province, the Kator Foundation runs teacher training workshops for local women who are ready to teach in their own communities. The workshops cover lesson planning, classroom management, basic curriculum, and the practical skills a woman needs to run a small village classroom — whether in her own home or in a community-based education center.

Behind every classroom we support is a teacher, and most of those teachers are local women who grew up in the same villages they now serve. Training them well is one of the most leveraged things we can do. A trained teacher does not just teach one group of children. She will teach hundreds over the course of her career.

This program is made possible by our donors. Every workshop, every training manual, every certificate is paid for by people who understand that investing in a teacher is investing in everyone she will ever teach.

We believe that the most sustainable form of education is the one a community provides for itself. By training local women to teach, we help villages become the source of their own children’s education — for this generation and the ones that will follow.
