In a village in Baghlan province, the Kator Foundation rehabilitated the school toilets, which had fallen into disrepair and become unusable. The work included rebuilding the structures, restoring water access, and making sure the facilities were clean, private, and safe for students to use throughout the school day.
A working school toilet is not a small thing. When the toilets at a school stop working, students stop coming — and the first to drop out are usually the girls. Older girls in particular cannot stay in school without private, working sanitation. Something as basic as a clean, functioning toilet can be the difference between a girl finishing her education and leaving it behind.
This project was made possible by our donors. Your support fixed something that everyone in the village knew was broken but no one had the resources to repair. The students walking into that school today will use those facilities for years to come.
We believe that small infrastructure can carry enormous weight. A repaired toilet is not glamorous, but it keeps girls in school. And keeping girls in school is one of the most powerful things any community can do.
