In Baghlan province, the Kator Foundation distributed warm blankets to families before the start of winter. The blankets were heavy, thick, and built to withstand the brutal cold of northern Afghanistan — and they went to households that had been preparing to face the season without adequate bedding or heating.
Winter in Baghlan is not a small inconvenience. Temperatures drop well below freezing for months at a time, and many families live in homes with little or no heat. Children, the elderly, and the sick are the most vulnerable. Every winter, lives are lost simply to the cold. A warm blanket can be the difference between a household that survives the season and one that does not.
This project was made possible by our donors. Your support paid for every blanket, and every blanket went directly to a family that needed it. There is something profoundly human about handing a warm blanket to a person who is bracing for a cold winter — and your generosity made that moment possible.
We believe that the simplest forms of help are sometimes the most important. A blanket is not complicated, but it keeps a child warm through a long, dark night. That is enough.
